HISTORICAL CONTEXT
A southern town with a rich textile history, Greenwood is home to multiple mill villages. As the textile industry transforms, the mill villages are faced with irrefutable changes. Deeply rooted in its history, the community hopes to prepare for the future without forgetting its past.

EXISTING CONDITIONS + COMMUNITY CHARRETTE
The void left by the Greenwood Mill Village Mill creates an opportunity for redevelopment addressing community needs, environmental issues, and the historical context. What was once home to a thriving working community centered around the mill has faded into a disconnected community with diminishing neighborhood conditions.

DESIGN SOLUTIONS
Building on the empty mill site, an education destination would invite the community to interact with the site focusing on three areas: culture, nature, and health.
